The tournament everyone is talking about these days is the World Series of Poker, but this is not the only important event of the year. A breakthrough has been made as a result of the DSP and World Poker Tour reach an agreement and throughout the year, the WPT Deepstacks Tour will make many people rich. The parties involved agreed on the terms earlier this year and one of these competitions has just concluded, with players coming together in the last week of April at the Turlock Poker Room.
The tournament was a huge success and as a result, the WPT Deepstacks Tour announced new key dates, with one of the competitions being currently underway. It began on May 23rd and it will conclude on June 1, which means that for a few days it would overlap with the WSOP. Probably those who are hell-bent on not missing any event at the World Series of Poker will forsake this competition, but those who reside in Los Angeles should definitely check it out.
The tournaments have the particularity of being relatively affordable for regular players and grinders, who are expected to pay $565 to participate. This is less than 5% of how much players will have to pay for a chance to win a World Series of Poker bracelet in the main event. It is true that side tournaments are far less expensive, but very few of them have the unique structure of WPT Deepstacks Tour competitions.
Just as the name suggests, players will receive a significantly boosted starting stack, so they will get the chance to use their strategies of choice without fearing the blinds. The guaranteed prize pool is of $1 million but organizers expect this psychological threshold to be greatly exceeded, something that has happened before. Since the series is probably going to attract numerous participants, it made perfect sense for a WPT Deepstacks Player of the Year leaderboard to be created.
At the top of the list now stands Howard Morris, but with so many competitions left to be played in 2014, it is very unlikely that he will remain leader for long. To cut to the chase, those who are interested in participating in the WPT Deepstacks Tour events, should know that fresh information has been released. The next tournament is scheduled to start on September 20 and Calgary will be the gracious host while the final event will be hosted by the Dragonara Casino in Malta:

Sep 20 – 28 – Calgary – Grey Eagle Casino
Oct 4 – 12 – Edmonton – Casino Yellowhead
