It is reported that the Goan Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said this week that the six offshore casino-ships docked in the Mandovi river have been ordered off city limits within 15 days. As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal, 2008 was the worst year on record for declining gaming revenues in Nevada. According to the figures released by the state's Gaming Control Board, the casino revenues dropped by 9.7 per cent from $12.8 billion (2007) to $11.6 billion (2008), the sharpest decline in state history.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the budget crisis may bring to a head the future of SugarHouse Casino whose approval process has been stalled and the Mayor Nutter is still trying to force it off its planned Delaware River waterfront site. After last week's budget briefing, Councilman Darrell L. Clarke questioned how the city could be cutting pools and libraries while fighting a development that, along with the other planned casino, Foxwoods, is scheduled to bring $28 million in tax revenue.
