Bwin reports that they achieved the Euro 2008 turnover target. Their sports betting turnover increased 44.1% compared to Q2 2007 to EUR 750.0 million. Bwin attributes this rise "to the major event of the EURO 2008™ and the sustained dynamic growth of sports betting, especially in the live betting sector." They had redesigned their live betting interface before Euro 2008, which now offers an average of around 2,600 events each month, so that players visiting their site will find live events on offer virtually at any time of the day.

As already reported, the Chinese government may curtail individual visits of mainland Chinese to Macao by allowing only one visit of the gambling paradise every six month instead of every two month. This news has now caused a sharp fall of shares on last Tuesday of some of the main casino operators like Las Vegas Sands (11%), MGM Mirage (11%) and Wynn Resorts (7%).

Pokertrillion.com has announced that Judge Gino Camilleri at the First Hall Civil Court, Malta, issued a judgement on 18th August 2008 "authorising Trillion Ltd to enforce seizure of the Boss Media Malta Limited and Boss Media AB servers, and that these servers cease being used for any commercial activity as from 18th September 2008 with Boss Media not being allowed to appeal the court's decision any further." This judgement is related to Trillion Limited's multi-million Euro law suit for breach of contract against Boss Media AB and their associated companies, after Boss Media terminated their contract with Poker Trillion alleging them of rake back violations.

Boss Media has now stated in a press release that "Poker Trillion’s recent comments are a reckless attempt to support a legal action that is without merit and initiated as retribution for their dismissal from the Boss Media network." Boss Media also assures that "player funds are not affected by the current proceedings", since these funds are held under the control of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority and cannot be seized by any court. Boss Media is exploring, according to the press release, various legal options to protect their Assets in Malta, and assures that they have enough asset to ensure that their business "will continue to operate with the highest standards."

According to the Portuguese news agency Lusa, the Chinese government is planning to curtail visits to Macau, the only place in China where gambling is legal.
