Online gaming and betting: Belgium ignores European Commission´s warning
The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has expressed grave concerns on the adoption of the Belgian law for gaming and betting ignoring a Detailed Opinion of the European Commission issued in June 2009 against the draft law for violating EC law requirements. During the following discussions in Belgium the objections of the European Commission against the law were taken into consideration by a number of Members of the Belgian Senate and Parliament. Kentucky Asks Court to Add US Defendants to Domain Seizure List
The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA) reports on its website that lawyers representing the Commonwealth of Kentucky have asked the Franklin County Circuit court to add names of US citizens and companies to a lawsuit seeking the forfeiture of 141 Internet domain names related to Internet gambling. However, the forfeiture was blocked by a January 2009 decision from the Kentucky Court of Appeals, in favor of iMEGA and other groups.
