Hellboy Video Slot Review

Hellboy is a comic book whose author is the writer-artist Mike Mignola. The hero is a demon fighting for an international non-governmental agency as well as for himself against dark forces including Nazis and Baba Yaga. The comics were later adapted into diverse films -  a 2004 film starring Ron Perlman, a 2008 film sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and two straight-to-DVD animated films, Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood and Iron.

HELLBOY is now Microgaming's latest flagship video slot, licensed from Dark Horse Comics. They have translated the theme, quite close to the original, to a 5 reel 20 payline video slot with a comic book style presentation. The game features original characters such as Professor Trevor Brutenholm, Johann Krause, Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman and a number of others, all led by the stone-fisted and de-horned red demon, Hellboy.

Wild, Multiplier Symbol

Hellboy is the Wild symbol that substitutes other symbols in winning combinations. But it does not substitute for the scatter Right Hand of Doom symbol to complete winning scatter combinations or activate the Underworld bonus game. This symbol doubles the payout of any combination it completes.

Scatter symbol

The Right Hand of Doom symbol is a scatter symbol which can be scattered anywhere on the five reels to complete winning combinations, provided that two or more of them appear. Three or more Right Hand of Doom symbols scattered anywhere on the five reels activate the Underworld bonus game.

Underworld Bonus Game

The Underworld is a 4-level bonus game where you travel through four different tunnels in the underworld in search of the Relic of Power. To continue to the next level, you must avoid blocked doors! Five locked doors are displayed on each level. You open one door to reveal what it hides. Hidden behind each door is either a:

• Monster with a bonus amount
  You win only the bonus amount behind the chosen door and can continue to the next level.
• Friend with a bonus amount and a Win All label
  You win all the bonus amounts that are revealed and can continue to the next level.
• Blocked label
  The game ends. You win any bonus amounts you may have previously accumulated.

During your search you can win multiple random bonus amounts. If you can complete all four levels successfully, you will proceed to the Chamber of Fire, where you shoot the crystal to reveal the Relic of Power and win a random bonus amount. This is added to your total bonus win. All random bonus win amounts displayed in the Underworld bonus game are already multiplied by your total bet amount.

Super Mode

In the randomly activated Super Mode feature you win 10 Free Spins. During the Super Mode, three wild positions which substitute for other symbols to complete winning combinations are randomly activated and held in position.

Gamble Bonus Game

Any win activates the Gamble bonus game. A correct guess for the card color doubles your win, while a correct guess for the card suit quadruples your win. If your guess is correct, you have the option to collect your winnings or gamble again.If not, you lose your win of the spin.
