Blackjack
The card game Blackjack is also called Twenty-one, Vingt-et-un (French for Twenty-one), or Pontoon. Blackjack is definitely the most popular card game in online casinos. It is possible that this game is so popular because it mixes chance with skill. One fascinating aspect of Blackjack is card counting, a strategy used to track the ratio of high cards to low cards to determine when a player has a probability advantage. A higher proportion of high cards - tens and aces - to low cards brings advantage to the player, and the opposite to the dealer.
How to play Blackjack
The player has to beat the Dealer. The basic rule is that the hand wins that has the highest total, but not exceeding 21, or by the Dealer's hand going bust. A hand is said to bust if it has a total greater than 21. Every player must try to have a higher hand than the Dealer, but unbusted. He loses if his hand busts even if the Dealer's hand also busts. When both the player and the Dealer have the same point value, it is push. There is no winner in this case, but each player can then play an independent game against the Dealer.
Blackjack is played with between 1 and 6 standard decks of cards. The cards 2 to 10 are counted at their face value. Jack, queen and king are also worth 10. The ace is counted as 11 as long as this would not cause a player to bust. In that case, it would be worth the value 1. When an ace is counted as 11, the hand is called a soft hand because this hand cannot bust when the player draws another card.
Another reason for the popularity of Blackjack is probably the huge variety of this game, as you can see below.
